Buss Knocks In Three, But ODU Drops Doubleheader To Stetson

DELAND, FL--The Stetson Hatters swept a doubleheader from the Monarchs Saturday evening, winning game one, 6-4 and game two, 10-3.
In game one ODU shortstop Chris Buss (Rosemount, MN.) knocked in two runs, while Nathan Hartman(Orlando, FL.) and Edgar Hernandez (Luquillo, PR.)both knocked in a run each for the Monarchs. Both Buss and Hernandez each had two hits in the game.
Stetson rallied with the help of a two-run homer by shortstop Ryan Lashley in the seventh which put the Hatters up for good, at 5-4. Reliever David Burns pitched four scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win for Stetson.
In Game two, Robert Crews knocked in three runs, while Kurt Schluter, Ryan Lashley and Mark Jones each knocked in two for the Hatters. Lindsey Caughel pitched eight innings with no walks and eight strikeouts for Stetson.
ODU got on the board in the fourth after a Hartman doubled, Chris Buss' sacrifice fly to scored him from third. ODU scored two runs in fifth as leftfielder Donnie Corsner(Virginia Beach, VA.) and centerfielder Kenny Stoneback (Colonial Heights, VA.)slammed back-to-back homers.
For Stoneback, it was his third and for Corsner it was his second. Corsner and Hernandez led ODU with two hits each. The third and final game of the series is Sunday at 12 noon.
