Three Monarch Recruits Earn All-State Honors

NORFOLK, VA-- Three of ODU's baseball recruits for the upcoming 2006 season earned All-State honors from either the Virginia High School Coaches Association, or the Virgnia Independent League.
Pitcher Dan Hudson from AAA State Champion Princess Anne High School (Virginia Beach.) was selected to the first team as a pitcher and second team as a firstbaseman. Hudson was 11-2 with a 1.12 earned run average. He hit .412 with nine homeruns.
Anthony Shawler from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake was selected honorable mention. The 6-2 Shawler was selected in the 44th round by the Washington Nationals where he compiled a 2.36 earned run average with 96 strikeouts. He tossed a no-hitter against Hickory, fanning 11 in that contest. He also hit .418 with five homers and 28 runs batted in.
Cameron Scott (Culpepper, VA.) helped lead Notre Dame Academy to the Virginia Independent state crown. He earned first team All-State honors for the second straight year and was runner-up for Player of the Year in Virgnia. As a junior he was the WASHINGTON POST's junior All-Region selection.
