Rutgers Defeats Old Dominion, 2-1

NORFOLK, VA. (Feb. 25) - Junior Righthander Jim Wilson scattered four hits and fanned seven to lead Rutgers to a 2-1 victory over the Monarchs of Old Dominion. The Scarlet Knights are now 2-2, while ODU is 2-6-1.

The Monarchs got on the scoreboard first in the second inning. Joe Troilo (Avondale,Pa. ) singled, stole second, then third and came home on the catchers' throwing error to third.

Rutgers tied the game in the fourth. Darren Fenster led off with a double, then scored on Jake Daubert's single. In the fifth inning, Matt Wolski singled with one out and sacrificed to second by Brian Ciemniecki. He scored on a double to left by David DeJesus.

Brian Ross (Portland, ME.), 0-3 was the hard luck loser as he fanned eight, gave up nine hits and walked none. The two schools play game two of the three-game series at the Bud Metheny Complex Saturday at 1 p.m.
