Hernandez, Frazier And Wright Lead ODU Over Northeastern

NORFOLK, VA--Edgar Hernandez (Luquillo, PR) RBI single knocked in Shawn Sizemore in the sixth inning to break a 4-4 tie and lead the Monarchs to an 8-4 Colonial Athletic Association victory over Northeastern Sunday afternoon at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. The Monarchs take the series and are now 10-12 overall and 3-3 in the CAA.
The game was tied 4-4 in the sixth when ODU scored three runs. After Hernandez knocked in Sizemore thirdbaseman Brent Frazier (Fairfax Station, VA.) singled home both Hernandez and Kenny Stoneback (Colonial Heights, VA.) to give the Monarchs a 7-4 lead. Frazier then singled home Nate Hartman (Orlando, FL.) in the eighth for the final margin of 8-4.
Frazier knocked in three runs on the day, while shortstop Josh Wright had three hits and knocked in two runs. Wright put ODU up early, 2-0 in the first with a two-run homer to left with freshman Brian Bashara (Norfolk, Va.) aboard. It was Wright's fourth homer of the season. Sizemore also had two hits on the day for ODU.
Northeastern was led by Alan Pastyrnak with three hits, and Jon Leroux with two hits and two runs Batted in.
The Monarchs return to action Tuesday night at 6 p.m. at the Bud Metheny Complex against Richmond.
