Hudson Pitches Two Shutout Innings, Verlander Wins No. 16

Righthander Dan Hudson (ODU'08) pitched two scoreless innings for Chicago and Justin Verlander won his 16th game for Detroit Friday night.

Hudson, pitched two innings of relief in the White Sox, 12-2 victory over Boston Friday night. He had one strikeout and hit a batter. Hudson was called up to the Majors on Tuesday.

ODU's, and the CAA's all-time strikeout king Justin Verlander upped his record to 16-7, tying the Yankees CC Sabathia for the AL lead in victories as Detroit beat Tampa Bay, 4-3.

Verlander pitched eight innings allowing one run, one walk and striking out seven. He now has a 3.29 earned run average and leads the American League in strikeouts.
