Baseball: Monarchs Lose 8-3 to Princeton

NORFOLK, VA. (March 10) -- Max Krance knocked in three runs and Jason Quintana and David Boehle scattered seven hits to lead Princeton to a 8-3 victory over the Monarchs of Old Dominion University Friday night. The loss ended the Monarchs four-game winning streak (6-10-1), while Princeton is 1-0.

In the third inning Krance doubled in Andrew Hanson and Pat Boran to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead. In the eighth inning, Krance singled in Hanson for his third RBI of the evening. Pitcher Jason Quintana pitched six innings, fanning seven for the win and David Boehle fanned four in three innings of relief for the save.

The Monarchs scored two in the second as Jason Greiner (Wexford, Pa.) singled home Joe Troilo (Avondale, Pa.) and Ross Robertson (Chesapeake, Va.) singled home John Oehler( Audubon, NJ.). The Monarchs third and final run came in the fourth when Jared Musolf (Lakehurst NJ.) doubled and scored on Troilo's sacrifice fly. Musolf led the Monarchs with two hits on the evening.

The two teams play game two of the three-game series Saturday at 1 p.m.
