Bergh Named CAA Pitcher Of The Week

RICHMOND, VA-- Junior righthander Ryan Bergh (Reddick, FL.) has been named Pitcher of the Week by the Colonial Athletic Association.

Bergh tossed 7.2 shutout innings to lead the Monarchs to a 1-0 victory over defending CAA Champion UNC Wilmington and complete the three-game series sweep. Sophomore Ross Fetterly picked up the save, closing out the last inning-plus.

Bergh allowed just five hits and struck out three as UNCW was shutout for the first time this year. Bergh improved his record to 3-4 with a 3.94 earned run average.

Anthony Shawler is 6-0 with a 2.92 ERA, while Dan Hudson is 4-2 with a 3.10 ERA. Mike Zahm leads ODU with a .419 batting average and is second to David Burns in RBI with 37. Burns has 38 RBI and a team leading six homers. Freshman thirdbaseman Jake McAloose is hitting .381.

The Monarchs host Richmond Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex.
