Troilo Signs With Boston Red Sox; Ross Reports To Billings, MT

NORFOLK, VA. (June 14) - Old Dominion University senior outfielder Joe Troilo (Avondale, PA.) signed a free agent contract with the Boston Red Sox. He will report to their Fort Meyers, Fl. team as a pitcher. Brian Ross, who was drafted in the 15th round by Cincinnati will report to their Billings, MT. team.

In four seasons at Old Dominion, Troilo completed his career as the school's fourth all-time leader in stolen bases with 88. His career hitting average was .303 with 21 home runs, 279 hits 179 runs batted in and 208 runs scored.

In 1999, Troilo pitched five innings of relief with a 3.60 earned run average. He also pitched four innings earlier this year.

Troilo owns Old Dominion's all-time at bat record with 223 for his career. He is second all-time in runs scored and base hits. Troilo helped lead the Monarchs to a 33-24-1 record. Old Dominion earned an atlarge bid to the NCAA Tournament in Clemson, SC. He hit .304 with four homers and 52 runs batted in.
