NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion and James Madison split a Colonial Athletic Association Doubleheader Saturday at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. ODU (18-19/2-6) won game one, 8-2 thanks to four RBI from Steven Harris, while the Dukes (11-18/2-3) took game two, 2-0 behind the combined shutout pitching of Bobby Lasko and Travis Risser.

In game one, Steven Harris (Virginia Beach, VA.) knocked in four runs including a three-run double in the sixth inning. He also doubled home a run in the Monarchs four-run seventh. Tyler Belcher (Bristol, VA.) and Eric Mesa (Miami, FL.) each had three hits, Mesa scored three times on the day.

Junior righthander Dana Arrowood (Woodbrodge, VA.) picked up his fourth win of the year with relief help from Kyle Dubois (Virginia Beach, VA.). Arrowood fanned seven in seven plus innings, while Dubois fanned three. The two scattered eight hits.

In the second inning Nate Schill led off with a double and scored on Matt Bristow's one-out single. Dan Santobianco led off with a double then later scored on a Monarch throwing error.

In game two, Bobby Lasko and Travis Risser held ODU to three hits in the 2-0 combined shutout win. Riser picked up his second save of the year and his school record 11th career save.

Michael Cowgill knocked in both runs for JMU. He doubled home Sean Loso in the first, then his groundout plated Davis Stoneburner in the third inning. Bryan Hansen (Vass, NC.) took the loss, but gave up only four hits with no walks and struckout four. ODU threatened in the bottom of the seventh. Hudgins struckout but reached first base on a wild pitch. C.J. Jacinto walked, but Risser got the next two Monarchs out on strikes and a groundout to end the game. The two teams return to action on Sunday for game three at 2 p.m.
