Verlander Wins Third Major League Game In Tigers Romp

NORFOLK, VA-- Former ODU pitching standout Justin Verlander ('04) won his third major league game in the Detroit Tigers, 18-1 victory over Minnesota Saturday.

Verlander pitched seven innings with four strikeouts and two walks, and is now 3-2 with a 3.52 earned run average.

Dick Howser Award Current ODU pitchers Jason Godin (Stafford, VA.) and Dan Hudson (Virginia Beach, VA.) have advanced to the watch list of 64 candidates for the prestigious Dick Howser Award given to the top player in baseball. Godin is 8-1 on the year and leads the CAA in strikeouts, while Hudson, a freshman is 7-1. JMU has two players also on the watch list in Kellen Kulbacki and Nate Schill.

ODU returns from exam break next weekend when they host the Rams of VCU in a three-game CAA series, beginning Friday at 7 p.m.
