Arrowood and Gunter Earn CAA Honors

NORFOLK, VA--Senior Dana Arrowood (Woodbridge, VA.) was named CAA Player of The Week, and senior righthander Kevin Gunter (Richland, NJ.) named CAA Pitcher of the Week. ODU (37-19/19-5) remained in the nations top 25 by BASEBALL AMERICA and USATODAY/Coaches poll and slipped to 27th in COLLEGIATE BASEBALL's poll.

Arrowood, the Monarchs designated hitter and relief pitcher hit .417 with five RBI in last weekend's series against Virginia Commonwealth. The senior drove in a pair of runs on Friday and Saturday, then on Sunday tied the game with a hit in the eighth and picked up the victory in relief. Arrowood leads ODU with 43 runs batted in and is tied for second on the team in homers with five and ranks second in the CAA with seven saves.

Kevin Gunter tossed a complete-game, six hit shutout as ODU defeated VCU Friday evening, 6-0. Gunter fanned nine and walked just one in throwing his second shutout of the season and third complete game. Gunter is 6-3 (4-1 in CAA games) with a 3.16 ERA. Gunter along with teammate Jason Godin lead the CAA with two shutouts, ranks eighth in earned run average, third in the league in complete games.
