Monarchs Play Wright State In The Citadel Tournament

NORFOLK, VA--The ODU Baseball Monarchs travel to Charleston, SC. to play in the Homewood Suites Shootout this weekend. ODU opens play Friday at noon against Wright State. Host school The Citadel is also in the event.

Throught five games Chris Baker leads the eam with a .450 batting average, followed by Kenny Stoneback at .429 and Brent Frazier at .421. Baker has knocked in 10 RBI with two homes and three triples. Baker and Donnie Corsner both lead in runs scored with six each. Baker is currently tied with Ronnie Baker of Kennesaw State for the national lead with a 33 game hitting streak.

On the mound, senior lefthander Kyle Hald (0-0) has a 0.00 ERA with eight strikeouts in seven innings of work. Freshman Ben Verlander, junior Mike Ney and junior Ben Tomchick are all 1-0 thus far. Senior Adam Wisniewski also has a 0.00 ERA along with a team best two saves.

The Moanrchs are scheduled to throw Kyle Hald Friday in game one against Wright State and Ben Tomchick against Wright State on Saturday.
