ODU's Sollenberger Named CAA Player of the Week

RICHMOND, VA -- Old Dominion freshman right fielder Brent Sollenberger (Chambersburg, PA) was named CAA Player of the Week today after batting .588 (10-for-17), scoring six of 23 runs, and helping the Monarchs to a perfect 4-0 record on the week and a sweep of CAA-rival Virginia Commonwealth. Sollenberger becomes the first Monarch named player of the week this season.

The freshman opened the week going three-for-five against NC State and scoring two runs. In the series opener against the Rams, he delivered with a career-high five hits in six at bats as the Monarchs topped VCU, 9-8 in 11 innings.

In the second game of the three game series, Sollenberger was two-for-three with another run scored as the Monarchs picked up the win, 2-1. In the third game of the series, he scored another run in a close 3-1 decision won by the Monarchs.
