Learn About Your Monarchs: Q&A With Nick England
Throughout fall camp ODUSports.com will do Q&A's with members of the Monarchs. Today's chat is with sophomore wide receiver, Nick England. England sat out last year after transferring from FIU.
Q: How has your relationship with Taylor from high school helped you in practices and how do you think that will help you during games?
A: It’s been a lot easier having Taylor around because I’ve known him and we’ve been friends for a long time. He was my quarterback in high school, so the adjustment was pretty easy. He was always there to help me with plays, so if I needed to know something I could go to him for help.
Q: Who is your role model or the person you look up to the most in life?
A: I would say my dad. He introduced me to football when I was six. So if I had to pick anybody it would be him.
Q: Where is your favorite place to visit when you go on vacation?
A: I haven’t been to too many places vacation wise, but I’d like to visit Cancun or Panama City Beach.
Q: If you could pick a sport other than football to play, what would that be and why?
A: Soccer. Because you get to play for the United States, you’re playing not just for your state, but for your nation.
Q: What was your dream job growing up as a kid?
A: To play in the NFL.
Q: What are you most excited about when you run through the tunnel on game day?
A: To hear the fans scream when we run out. It will be my first game back after a year since I had to redshirt last year due to the transfer.
Q: Who are your favorite NFL, MLB and NBA teams?
A: For the NFL the Atlanta Falcons. MLB I’d say the Braves and NBA the Chicago Bulls.
Q: What artist(s) might we find in your pregame playlist?
A: Lil Boosie would have to be the one artist that I’d listen to before the game.
Q: The Old Dominion Athletic Foundation turns 50 this year. What does your scholarship means to you?
A: It means a lot you know. They support us; they take care of everything that we need as players and as students so it really means a lot.
Q: What was your most memorable highlight or play from your high school days?
A: My favorite play was probably against Woodstock in the first round of playoffs, I ran a post route and I scored on a 60 yard pass from Taylor my junior year and that won us the game. We won 7-0.
Q: If you could meet anyone past, present or future, who would you like to talk to?
A: Floyd Mayweather.
Q: What is your major?
A: Yes I have decided and my major right now is exercise science.
