Finney And Bazemore Lead ODU To Victory, 59-52 Over St. Peter's

ST.THOMAS, VI-- Ben Finney scored 15 and Kent Bazemore added 14 to lead ODU over Saint Peter's, 59-52 in the first round of the Paradise Jam Tournament.

The Monarchs will play Clemson on Sunday at, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. ET.

The two teams battled to a 20-20 deadlock at halftime, but the Monarchs took an eight point lead, 35-27 with 14:15 left after a jumper by Kent Bazemore.

Saint Peter's rallied to cut the lead to one, 37-36 with 10:11 left on a layup by Ryan Bacon. After a Ben Finney layup and a three-pointer by Iliadis, ODU pushed the lead back to seven, 47-40 with 5:48 left.

Saint Peter's stayed close, but a key blocked shot by Bazemore and then a three-pointer by Darius James with 1:23 left put ODU back up seven, 52-45. Senior Keyon Carter then hit four of five free throws along with jumper by Finney to finish the game off.

Frank Hassell led all rebounders with 12 as ODU dominated the boards, 26-37. The Monarchs hit .476 (20-42) from the floor, while SPU was .417 (20-48). Finney, Darius James and Trian Iliadis each hit two treys.

Bazemore had a well rounded game as he dished out two assists, blocked two shots and came up with two steals on the day.

The Monarchs committed 12 first half turnovers, but only four in the second half. Sunday's contest will be televised on Fox College Sports.
