Dec. 5, 1970, First regular season game played in the fieldhouse. ODU defeats Washington and Lee, 84-60 as Dave Twardzik and Skip Noble each scored 15 points. Randy Couling scored the first Monarch basket in the fieldhouse and finished with nine points.

GREENE PRE-SEASON ALL -CAA: Senior guard Pierre Greene was selected to the CAA pre-season men's basketball All-CAA team by the league's head coaches and media in attendance at media day on Oct. 31 in Baltimore, MD. As a team, the Monarchs were picked to finish seventh.

MONARCH INJURIES: Freshman T. J. Waldon (Lakeland, Fl.) will be out 4-6 weeks with a stress fracture of the third metatarsal bone in his left foot.

SERIES VS. GW:
The Colonials lead, 7-3. GW won last year's game, 91-89 in Washington, DC.

Monarchs last win vs. GW: 75-64 in 1999-00 here in the fieldhouse.

LAST WIN VS. A-10 TEAM: Defeated Dayton, 81-76 last December in Dayton. The Flyers are coached by ODU Sports Hall of Famer and former head coach Oliver Purnell.

DEFENSE All five Monarch opponents have shot under 50 percent from the floor. Virginia Tech was held to .298 shooting, the lowest since ODU held American to .259 shooting in 1996. The Hokies scored 19 points in the first half, the lowest since VMI was held to11 in 1982.

MONARCH EXHIBITION GAMES: ODU defeated E.A. All-Stars Southeast, 106-99 in overtime as Ricardo Marsh scored 25 points and hauled in 13 rebounds. ODU shot .473 from the floor and dominated the boards, 63-35. EA All-Stars later defeated North Carolina....

In the second exhibition game, ODU defeated Kentucky ABA, 89-82. Six Monarchs were in double figures. Pierre Greene led with 16 points, six assists and four steals. Ricardo Marsh hauled in 16 rebounds. ODU shot .576 from the floor. Kentucky ABA later beat Tennessee.
