NORFOLK, VA-- Alex Loughton (Perth, Australia), who earned first team All-CAA and All-Region honors last year as a sophomore got high praise from Mike DeCourcy's "Inside Dish" story which appears in the college football issue of THE SPORTING NEWS (pg.7). "One pleasant surprise at the Pete Newell Big Man Camp was Old Dominion's Alex Loughton, who averaged 16.6 points and 8.7 rebounds as sophomore. Loughton impressed observers with a strong left hand, and ability to finish plays and his perimeter shooting. He made rapid progress in picking up the variety of intricate moves Newell and his staff taught the players," notes DeCourcy. The 6-10 Loughton ranked second in the CAA in rebounding, sixth in scoring, fourth in free throw percentage, eighth in steals, and first in offensive rebounding. He also earned national academic honors from the Athletic Directors of America.
