NORFOLK, Va. (Dec. 4)(AP) -- Senque Carey was 7-of-7 from 3-point range and finished with 27 points Saturday night as Washington cruised in the first half and held on to beat Old Dominion 78-70.

Carey was 9-of-14 overall from the field for Washington (3-3), which shot 59 percent in the first half and led 48-31 at halftime. Old Dominion (2-5) outscored Washington 39-30 in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overtake the Huskies.

Deon Luton added 16 points and Will Perkins 11 for the Huskies. Washington hit 10-of-16 from long range, or 62 percent. The Huskies also shot 59 percent in the first half and 50 percent overall.

Skipper Youngblood led Old Dominion with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Michael Williams added 12 points for the Monarchs.
