Game Quotes, 11-24-02
North Carolina at Old Dominion, Men's Basketball
Final Score, UNC 67, ODU 59
Matt Doherty, Head Coach: "Great win for our program and our team. We would have been blessed to win by one point in triple OT. They made a run at us and we answered, we made some mistakes and that is good. Old Dominion is a good team and that concerns me. ODU exposed that we have to bring great energy to every game." On Jawad Williams: "He had a good offensive and defensive game. I want him to get more rebounds, but he played a good game." On the team: "Everyone is valuable to us and everyone needs to be ready." On the Ted Constant Convocation Center: "This is a classy atmosphere. It is loud and I knew it would be loud, but it is still a basketball game."
Blaine Taylor, Head Coach: "We absorbed some real good play from UNC. I think we had the first game jitters but good players made good plays on their part. We have to make our shot. I was happy that we kept our composure."
On Alex Loughton: "I thought he was somewhat nervous but he was able to help us." On Isaiah Hunter: "He is still adjusting to being a point guard. But he was more of an asset than the stats will show." On Rasheed Wright: "I was overwhelmed by his leadership. He had tremendous composure on the court and it spilled over to the other players."
Alex Loughton, freshman center, "Certainly we didn't show well, we need to relax and just play the game. I think we have what it takes to beat some really good teams and over time we will grow as a team. Whatever our strengths are we can make it their weakness."
