ODU Tops William & Mary, 74-60
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) (Jan. 22) -- Michael Williams scored 18 points and Old Dominion made up for poor second-half shooting by making 21 free throws Saturday as the Monarchs sent William & Mary to its seventh loss in nine games, 74-60.
The Monarchs (8-11, 3-5 Colonial Athletic Association) hit just 5 of 22 field goal attempts in the second half but took advantage of 30 trips to the line to keep the Tribe (7-10, 2-5) from erasing a 16-point half-time deficit.
Scotty Scott's 3-pointer, the third in four possessions for the Tribe, cut the lead to 58-51 with 8:21 left, but the Monarchs countered with a 10-3 run to put the game away.
Andre McCullum added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Monarchs.
Mike Johnson led William and Mary with 12 points.
