GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) (November 28) -- Junior forward Andre McCullum collected a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Old Dominion fell to Furman, 68-65 in the consolation final of the SoCon Holiday Hoops Tournament.

Freshman forward Karim Souchu of Furman scored a game-high 20 points, including the go-ahead basket with 22 seconds left.

Souchu took a pass from classmate Darrell Arbaugh on a backdoor cut for the layup that broke a 65-65 deadlock.

After the Monarchs' Skipper Youngblood missed a short baseline jumper with 13 seconds to go, Furman's Marcus Dilligard hit the second of a two-shot free throw with 6.5 seconds to go.

Old Dominion guard Michael Williams took the inbounds pass and raced down court for a 20-footer from the left wing that fell short.

Arbaugh added 12 and freshman Guilherme Da Luz 10 for the Paladins (4-2). Junior forward Andre McCullum scored 18 and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds for Old Dominion (2-3). Youngblood added 15 points and Williams 13.

Youngblood forced the late tie by hitting two free throws with 52 seconds remaining. The teams traded the lead nine times in the previous 12 minutes with neither moving ahead by more than three.

The Monarchs' last lead was 62-61 on Williams' 3-point shot from the left baseline with 3:21 left. Furman regained the upper hand at 64-62 on a Dilligard free throw at 2:59 and a Da Luz jumper at 1:56.

A Youngblood free throw at 1:41 - his first point of the second half following a 12-point first half - and an Arbaugh free throw at 1:08 left the score at 65-63.

The Monarchs led 40-31 at halftime and took their largest lead at 43-32 on Williams' 3-point basket 40 seconds into the second half. The Paladins responded with a 16-4 run to take a 48-47 lead on a 3-point shot and free throw by P.J. Brown at 13:05.

Furman used a 9-2 run to post an 18-11 lead at the 12-minute mark of the first half. The Monarchs immediately went on a 9-1 burst for a 20-19 edge two minutes later. Old Dominion finished the first half with a 14-4 run as Furman hit only two of its last nine shots of the half. McCullum scored six to lead the charge.
