Blaine Taylor Gets Contract Extension

Norfolk - Blaine Taylor, the head men's basketball coach at Old Dominion University, has accepted an offer to extend his contract through the 2008/09 season.

"I am delighted that Blaine, who has done an outstanding job of directing our men's basketball program, is committed to Monarch basketball on a long-term basis," says athletic director Jim Jarrett.

"Blaine has provided quality leadership on the court and in the community and his values regarding sportsmanship and academics are first-class," Jarrett adds. .

Taylor, who enters his fourth season at Old Dominion, had two years remaining on his current contract, which was expanded to five years.

"I am thankful to our leadership at Old Dominion, both in the athletic department and the university administration, for their strong commitment to our program's future," says Taylor. "We are grateful not only for the stability that this provides our program, but for the momentum it offers us on so many different fronts. We are very appreciative of the good feelings and good intentions that this deal represents."
