NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Ricardo Marsh had 21 points and eight rebounds Saturday as Old Dominion beat Virginia Tech 55-46.

Old Dominion (2-1) sank 13 of 18 free throws and outrebounded the Hokies 42-40. Marsh scored 13 points in the first period, shooting 5-of-6 from the field and two 3-pointers.

Virginia Tech (2-1) trailed 24-19 at half time, but took the lead in the second period with a 3-pointer from Brian Chase to bring the score to 35-33 with 9:21 left.

The Monarchs regained the lead on a layup and free throw by Marsh and made an 11-point run on the Monarchs to bring the score to 49-39 with 2:54 left.

Rasheed Wright had 13 points and nine rebounds and Pierre Greene had 13 points and four rebounds for the Monarchs.

Carlos Dixon led the Hokies with 18 points and three rebounds.
