Joel Hines Named Men's Basketball Dir. of Operations

NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion University men's basketball coach Blaine Taylor has named Joel Hines to the position of Director of Basketball Operations today.
"We are very pleased to add Joel back to our staff, "said Taylor. "He will bring good work ethic, ambition and knowledge of our setting. You always want to help young people advance in this profession and this is the next step for Joel."
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to return to my alma mater, "said Hines. "I look forward to Working with such a tremendous group of people within the basketball program, athletic department, and the Hampton Roads community."
Hines joins the Monarch staff after serving as head boys basketball coach at Kecoughtan High school since 2007. He led the Warriors to their first regional appearance since 1995. Hines served as an assistant basketball coach in 2006-07 at TC Williams High School, in Alexandria, Va., where they won the Patriot District and Northern Region title and reached the Virginia High School League AAA State quarterfinals and finished 25-4. That same season Hines was the head junior Varsity Boy's coach, leading his squad to a 16-3 record, and the JV Patriot District Championship.
In 2006, Hines was the basketball operations intern for the Charlotte Bobcats. While an undergraduate at ODU, he served as staff assistant with the Monarchs from 2004-06. Hines has also worked at various Summer Basketball camps at Maryland, George Mason, VCU, Clemson and ODU.
Hines graduated from Old Dominion University in May of 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management.
