“We are very excited about the early signing of two outstanding golfers for next fall,” said Rudisill. “Chad Hess is one of the top golfers in Pennsylvania and will be coming to ODU on both an academic and golf scholarship. Chad has the ability to shoot really low scores and should make an immediate impact on the team.”

Chad Hess comes to ODU from Parkland High School where he has a 70.5 stroke average. Hess captured medalist honors at the Sports Fest Tournament after shooting 10 under (66-68), which set a Lehigh Valley Junior Golf Tour tournament record. He also tied the low round in LVJGT history at the Pennsylvania-Jersey Boy's Championships (73-72-64), in his final round.  Hess placed sixth at an AJGA tournament played at the Stonewall Links North course (71-75-68), and took fourth at the Pennsylvania Junior Boy's Championships (75-71). His top-4 finish in the State Tournament qualified him to represent the Pennsylvania Golf Association in the Williamson Cup, held at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, NY, attracts the best players from the Northeast, including Canada.  Hess was voted the 2013 Lehigh Valley Junior Player of the Year, to go along with his Lehigh Valley Conference (League) title.

"For me, ODU was the right place for me to play outstanding competitive golf and obtain a quality education," said Hess. "I am looking forward to playing under Coach Rudisill and assisting the team in any way I can.”

Hess is the son of Chuck and Kelly Hess. He is interested in secondary education with a possible concentration in mathematics or physics.”

“Pedro Junqueira is one of the top recruits we have signed in many years,” said Rudisill. We have had a number of state champions on the team, but this is our first “national champion” to sign at ODU. Pedro is currently attending the IMG Golf Academy in Bradenton, FL., and is another top golfer to come here from this excellent academy.  Both Pedro and Chad should be ready to jump into the starting lineup immediately.”

Pedro Junqueira is the reigning Brazilian junior champion after winning the Brazilian Junior Championship in August, where he shot -2 under (75-74-65) for the tournament.  He then  followed that up by capturing the 36th annual Itanhanga Open Championship in October, beating the Brazilian Amateur Champion in a playoff (72-72-78).   Junqueira was one of only three amateurs to make the cut at the PGA Latin American tournament.

“I am really excited about playing for ODU and coach Murray Rudisill,” said Junqueira. “I was very impressed with the University and the atmosphere, and feel with the competitive schedule, ODU is the right place to play and help my golf game as well. I am looking forward to the challenge and helping ODU win the Conference USA championship.”

Pedro Junqueira is the son of Fabio and Analice and he has a sister Beatriz. He is interested in the business field.
