Virginia Beach, Va. – Old Dominion University women’s basketball head coach Karen Barefoot will serve as a VIP guest at the third annual Charlie Normilie Turkey Trot in Sandbridge, Virginia Beach, Va. on Thanksgiving morning at the Sandbridge Market, which runs along Sandfiddler Road.

Events include a 5K, 1 mile run, Canine Crawl and a Turkey Gobble Wobble. Barefoot will speak to the crowd, as well as serve as the special celebrity starter for the event’s races. Proceeds will benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation and the Noblemen of Virginia Beach: two worthy foundations supporting those in the community who give more than they take. In addition, this year would have been James Normile’s senior year at Kellam High School. To honor his memory, proceeds will be donated to provide college scholarships to select Kellam HS seniors.

The event promises to be a festive occasion, that many members the town's SEAL teams and family members of fallen SEALS will be attending. Also expected to be on hand, are delegates and congressmen, as well as the local sheriff.
