Karen Barefoot and the Old Dominion University women's basketball team had a busy week making their way around the community to speak and participate in multiple activities at local schools.

The Lady Monarchs and Barefoot visited Larchmont Elementary earlier in the week and taught children ODU's famous "Ice Cream and Cake" song and had a pizza party as a reward for having the highest attendance of any area school at ODU's "Education Day" game back on Dec. 7, 2012.

Barefoot was a motivational speaker at Indian River Middle School in Chesapeake this week as well as she spoke to the AVID program in cooperation with career fair day to speak to students about their transition into high school.

The Lady Monarchs also visited Norfolk Collegiate Elementary School as sophomore forward Shae Kelley and Barefoot participated in a morning video segment that can be seen here.

Rounding out the week, ODU visited James Monroe Elementary School and had a pizza party to reward the students for the most spirited group for ODU's "Education Day" game that helped the Lady Monarchs defeat North Carolina Central, 59-33 in front of a season-high 5,287 fans at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.
