NORFOLK, Va. – Redshirt junior Jennie Simms exploded for 43 points as the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs defeated Davis & Elkins, 86-47, on Wednesday evening at the Ted Constant Center in their only exhibition game of the season.

ODU carried a 37-27 lead into halftime, but then hit its stride in the second half, outscoring Davis & Elkins by 29 points after the break. The Lady Monarchs played arguably their best quarter of the game, as they outscored the Senators, 30-8 in the fourth.

In addition to Simms, three other Lady Monarchs reached double figures. Gianna Smith finished second on the team in scoring with 13 points, while Keyana Brown and Destinee Young each added 11 points.

On the other side of the ball, the ODU defense swarmed Davis & Elkins, forcing 37 turnovers and holding the Senators to 36.2 percent shooting.

The Lady Monarchs will be back in action in their regular season opener on Friday, Nov. 13 when they take on Richmond at 3 p.m. at the Robins Center.
