Elaine Deppe & Danielle Vaughan Join ODU Athletic Family

NORFOLK, VA—Elaine Deppe has been named an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach and  Danielle Vaughan has been named an Assistant  Athletic Trainer at Old Dominion University as announced today by Director of Athletics Dr. Wood Selig.

 Deppe comes to ODU from Indiana University where she served as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach since 2008.

Prior to her position at Indiana, Deppe spent one year as a graduate assistant at LaSalle University. Deppe graduated with a fitness specialist degree with a coaching minor from Indiana University in 2007.


She completed her Master’s work in 2001 in the field of applied sport science. She has a USA Weightlifting Sport Performance Certification in addition to NSCA, and CSCS certifications.

As an undergraduate at Indiana, Deppe was a member of the rowing team for four years. She received the “Most Dedicated Athlete Award” and the “Team Leadership Award” in 2006.  She was named team captain for the 2006-07 season and received Alpha Beta distinction all four years for her achievements in the classroom. Deppe will primarily be working with women’s basketball, as well as women's soccer and rowing.

Vaughan joins the Monarchs after serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Western Kentucky since 2012 where she worked with women’s soccer and softball. She also was a physical therapist assistant at Methodist Hospital in Henderson, KY as well as a first responder at Vincennes University (IN) for student activities. 

Vaughan is certified as a Physical Therapist (PTA) and by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board.  

Vaughan graduated from the University of Evansville with a bachelor of science degree in athletic training in 2012.  She completed her Master of Science degree in athletic administration and coaching from Western Kentucky in 2014. Vaughan will be serving as the athletic trainer for the field hockey and lacrosse teams at ODU.
