Women's Lacrosse Downed By George Mason

FAIRFAX, VA. -- The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team fell to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Saturday afternoon as it suffered a 23-11 loss at George Mason.
Mason jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first period and never trailed in the game. The Patriots were up 12-5 at the half, and outscored the Monarchs in the second period 11-6 for the final tally.
Leading the way for the Lady Monarchs were junior Caroline Jacobs (Gaithersburg, Md.) and sophomore Kelly Kimener (Oakton, Va.) with three goals. Jacobs also registered three assists to finish with a total of six points.
Mason had 12 different Patriots find the back of the Lady Monarch net led by Laura King with six. Robyn Yeatman also handed out four assists.
Kimener registered a team-high five draw controls, while Jacobs caused three trunovers and led the team with five groundballs. Mason's Meredith Komer also posted five draws, while netminder Alsruhe scooped up a team-high three groundballs.
Old Dominion has three games on tap next week. The Lady Monarchs host #6 North Carolina on Wednesday, April 12th in their final regular season home game of the 2006 season. The game will also be the annual scholarship game with the $5.00 admission to benefit the Intercollegiate Foundation For Women's Lacrosse Scholarships. Following the match-up with the Tar Heels, the Lady Monarchs return to conference action traveling to Drexel and Hofstra.
