WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Old Dominion swimming and diving split in Saturday's meet with the George Washington Colonials at the Charles E. Smith Center Pool. The ODU women's team improved to 4-4 on the year with a 140-119 victory, while the ODU men's squad dropped their first dual meet with a 157-105 setback.

The Lady Monarchs had a trio of swimmers with multiple event victories in their win over the Colonials. Emma Forbes and Danielle Naylor lead the way in the freestyle events, while Ashley Luchsinger swept both butterfly competitions.

Forbes captured both the 50 freestyle (24.69) and 100 freestyle (57.73), while Naylor paced the team in the distance events with top times in the 1000 freestyle (10:24.27) and 500 freestyle (5:04.76). For Luchsinger, she lead all swimmers in the 200 butterfly with a nearly two second margin (2:07.56) and hit the wall first in the 100 butterfly (57.73).

The Lady Monarchs had another pair of victories in the individual events with Savannah Bowers winning the 200 freestyle (1:56.55) and Laura Cempel collected the 100 breaststroke (1:08.00).

Both women's relay teams were victorious as well. The 200 medley relay team posted a time of 1:50.32 for a first place time while the 400 free relay squad clocked in at 3:37.12 in the Lady Monarchs' final event win of the meet.

The ODU men were led by Andrew Cook and Andrew Crockett, both with a pair of first place finishes. Cook was the winner of the 1000 freestyle (9:49.73) with a nearly four-second margin of victory and also captured the 500 freestyle (4:49.31). Crockett meanwhile earned a first place tim in the 100 backstroke (52.98) and 100 butterfly (51.65)

Several members of the ODU swimming and diving squad are wrapping up competition at the 2011 AT&T Winter National Championships this weekend. The ODU swimming & diving teams will then return to action during their winter training trip.
