Fairfax, VA -- The Old Dominion men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams wrapped up the 2001 CAA Championships over the weekend. The women finished in third place while the men took fourth. James Madison won both championships - the third in a row for the men and the fifth overall for the women.

Although the Monarchs didn’t bring home the championships, they found individual success in numerous events. Sophomore Ashley Kirchner (Arlington, VA) swept both the 1 meter and 3 meter diving events, and Jamie D’Agostino (Ardsley, NY) took first place in the 500 free and 1650 free. Sophomore Kara Fichthorn (Landsdowne, PA) was named the Women’s Outstanding Performer after picking up victories in the 200 butterfly, 200 IM and 400 IM. Her 400 IM time set a CAA meet record and met the NCAA "B" qualifying standard.

Complete meet results are available on the George Mason University athletics website.
