Arni Arnason Named CAA Men's Swimmer Of The Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- Freshman Arni Arnason (Msfellsbaer, Iceland) was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Swimmer of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the conference office. Arnason, who picked up his fourth weekly award from the CAA, helped the Monarchs improve to 11-1 on the year in Saturday's quad meet with Army, American, and George Mason.

Arnason was a part of four of the Monarch's 11 event victories with three individual and a relay win. The Icelanic Olympian swam a leg as part of the winning 200 medley relay team (1:34.86), which captured its top time so far in the 2008-09 season. He also registered top time in by capturing the 100 (55.25) and 200 breast (2:02.46), as well as the 50 free (20.76).

The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to action on Saturday, January 31st against CAA rival Towson. The Monarchs and Lady Monarchs will once again utilize the facilities at Norfolk State. Meet begins at 1:00 p.m.
