NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's swimming and diving squad capped off the dual meet season with a 190-108 victory over William & Mary over the weekend to capture a perfect 10-0 season record. The Monarchs captured the top time in 11 of the events. The women's squad meanwhile fell 171-128 for a 6-5 record on the year. Freshman April Barrientos managed to reset the school record in the 100 back.

The diving events kicked off the meet. Jasmine Moore picked up a victory on the 1 meter (241.88) ,while Noah Scully earned win on the 3 meter (332.25). Moore and Scully would later sweep the diving events as Moore won the 3 meter with a score of 218.48 and Scully was victorious in the 1 meter with a 333.68. Scully reset his best mark on both events, while Moore's 1 meter performance was her best of the season and her 3 meter score was the second top score of the year.

A trio of Monarchs were the top finishers in the 200 free. Kristofer Hagg clocked in first at 1:44.47, narrowly edging out Patrik Balint (1:44.84), and Chad Gangwer (1:45.20). The 200 was not the only event where Hagg registered a top time. He would also collect the top time in the 500 free (4:45.37).

Balint would earn his first top time of the meet in the 100 back and log another top Monarch time on the season. His time of 52.18 just beat out teammate Mikael Ramkvist by .02 seconds. Balint, who won last week's CAA Swimmer of the Week accolade, also picked up a win in the 200 back (1.51.48).

Two Monarchs logged times under a minute in the 100 breast. Johan Lundberg was the top finisher in 58.99 with Joshua Kinas swimming to second place in a time of 59.67. Kinas would go on to win the 200 IM clocking in a time of 1:57.56.

Wesley Murai had two top finishes for the Monarchs. He swam his way to a top time of 47.28 in the 100 free and a 51.53 in the 100 fly. Murai's time in the 100 free was the top time for a Monarch this season.

Other notable performances included Daniel Gallagher swimming his way to victory in the 1000 free (9:53.65), another top Monarch time in 2007-08, while Kevin Latimer recorded the top time in the 200 fly (1:56.05).

Following Moore's performance on the 1 meter, the women won the 200 medley relay squad, comprised of April Barrientos, Jennifer Sargent, Hannah Kess, and Kelli North, took first in a time of 1:48.73.

Barrientos also continued her winning ways in the backstroke. Her time of 56.62 in the 100 back topped her previous recording setting ODU performance. The freshman beat her previous top finish in the 100 back by .41 seconds.

Sargent also added the 100 and 200 breast events to her list of top finishes on the meet. Sargent was one of top three Lady Monarch finishers with a 1:05.90 in the 100 breast, followed by Kelley Sayers in second with a 1:07.31 and Lauren Fiskus hitting the way in 1:09.30. The 200 breast saw Sargent swim her way to a time of 2:23.73. Her 100 breast time logged a new top time for the Lady Monarchs in the event.

The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving squads return to the pool at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Swimming and Diving Championships to be held on the campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Competition begins on Wednesday, February 27th and will continue through Saturday, March 1st.
