DAY THREE RECAP: 2013 CAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Day 3 Recap:
NORFOLK, Va. - In day three of the 2013 CAA Championships in Fairfax, Va, Old Dominion set five new school records, posted four NCAA B-cuts and won three medals. This bringing ODU's tally up to 11 total school records, seven NCAA B-cuts and seven medals in just three days of competition.
After the 200 free preliminaries on Friday morning, Sidni Hoxha had the second fastest time. After the 200 free finals on Friday night, Hoxha had the fastest time (1:37.17). The win, gave Hoxha a new school record (broke his own record), a NCAA B-cut and his second gold medal of the 2013 CAA Championships.
Kimberley Rashleigh broke her own school record and posted a NCAA B-cut on her way to a victory in the 400 IM with a time of 4:13.90. Laura Cempel finished third in the consolation final and eleventh overall in the 400 IM. Cempel's time of 4:26.28 was four seconds quicker than her previous personal-best.
Jason Brame (3:52.96) shaved-off 11 seconds from his season-best and made the NCAA B-cut on his way to a bronze medal in the 400 IM. Ryan Telep finished ninth overall and first in the consolation finals of the 400 IM with a time of 3:58.50.
Vitor Sa placed fifth in the 100 fly with a time of 49.06. On Friday morning, Sa swam a 48.89 and set a new school record in the 100 fly. However, Andrew Crockett would later break Sa's school record on Friday night as he swam a 48.14. Crockett's time was fast enough to qualify for the NCAA B-cut and place first in the consolation finals. Francisco Byrne finished sixteenth overall in the 100 fly with a time of 49.91.
Jessica Hubert placed fourth and came .03 of a second away from medaling in the 100 fly. Hubert's time of 54.76 is the fastest in her career and currently ranks second on the school's all-time list. Ashley Luchsinger swam a 56.31 in the 100 fly and placed eleventh overall and third in the consolation finals.
Andrew Crockett placed eighth in the 100 back with a time of 49.23. On Friday morning, Crockett set a new school record in the 100 back with a time of 49.10.
After posting her new PR (1:04.53) in the preliminaries of the 100 breast, Laura Cempel claimed victory in the consolation finals on Friday night with a time of 1:04.64.
Jason Haigh (56.52), Jobin Bahmanipour (56.84) and Edward Hubert (56.89) went 2-3-4 respectively, in the consolation finals of the 100 breast.

Tomorrow will be the final day of competition and the events will include the: 200 breast, 200 fly, 1650 free and the men's three-meter diving competition. Also the finals for the 400 free relay will be held tomorrow. Preliminaries are set to begin at 10 a.m. and the finals will take place at 6 p.m.
