Lady Monarchs Boast Five Swimmers On CAA 25th Anniversary Team

RICHMOND, Va. (October 22, 2009) -The Colonial Athletic Association has announced its Silver Anniversary team in women's swimming and diving, which includes 14 former CAA Swimmers of the Year and three CAA Divers of the Year.

As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports. The teams are selected by a panel of current and former head coaches in the conference.

Members of the CAA Silver Anniversary team for women's swimming and diving are:

Mary Kay Bolduc (Old Dominion), Meredith Bridgers (East Carolina), Meredith Budner (Towson), Mary Campioli (George Mason), Gabriella C'sepe (American), Jamie D'Agostino (Old Dominion), Jane DePalo (Old Dominion), Kara Fichthorn (Old Dominion), Amy Hendrick (East Carolina), Kate Hynes (Drexel), Jennifer Irby (Towson), Stacia Johnson (Navy), Liz Lebherz (Towson), Erin McDonnell (James Madison), Louise Middlemore (George Mason), Ruth Anne Miller (William & Mary), Kate Milling (UNC Wilmington), Katie Radloff (William & Mary), Jamye Stickney (Old Dominion), Lauren Stinnett (George Mason), Adrienne Sutton (UNC Wilmington), Lottie Swanson (James Madison), Cindy Walker (James Madison), Sue Wager (Richmond) and Debbie Williams (Navy).

Women's swimming and diving has been part of the CAA since the league began in 1985-86 and the conference has featured athletes who have performed well on a national and international level. James Madison has won a league-high six CAA championships (1986, 1987, 1993, 1994, 1995, 2001), while East Carolina (1995, 1996, 1997, 2000) and George Mason (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005) have captured four conference titles. Navy (1988, 1989, 1990) and UNC Wilmington (1998, 1999, 2006) own three CAA crowns. Towson (2008, 2009) and American (1991, 1992) claimed back-to-back league championships, while William & Mary won its only CAA crown in 2007.

CAA WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING 25TH ANNIVERSARY TEAM

Mary Kay Bolduc - Old Dominion - 1996-99 - Bay City, Mich.
· Four-time CAA Swimmer of the Year and Outstanding Meet Performer (1996-99)
· Four-time CAA Champion in the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyle
· 1996 NCAA "B" Qualifier who set seven ODU school records

Meredith Bridgers - East Carolina - 1988-91 - Charlotte, N.C.
· CAA Athlete of the Year in 1990 and two-time NCAA qualifier (1990, 1991)
· Four-time CAA Champion in the 100 and 200 breaststroke (1998-91)
· Held CAA meet record in the 100 breast for 16 years

Meredith Budner - Towson - 2007-present - Rockville, Md.
· CAA Swimmer of the Year in 2009 and CAA Rookie of the Year in 2008
· Set meet records in the 500 free, 1650 free and 400 IM at the 2009 CAA Championship
· 2009 NCAA qualifier in three events and honorable mention All-American in the 1650 free

Mary Campioli - George Mason - 2001-05 - Falls Church, Va.
· Two-time CAA champ on the 1-meter board (2003, 2005) & 2005 CAA champ on the 3-meter
· CAA Diver of the Year in 2005 and CAA Rookie Diver of the Year in 2002
· Competed in three events at the 2003 NCAA Championship

Gabriella C'sepe - American - 1992-95 - Hungary
· Named CAA Swimmer of the Year in 1992, 1994 and 1995
· 14-time CAA Champion, including four titles in the 100 breast and three in the 200 breast
· Swam for Hungary in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics in the 100 and 200 breaststroke

Jamie D'Agostino - Old Dominion - 1999-2002 - Ardsley, N.Y.
· Three-time CAA Champion in the 500 free and 1650 free (2000-02)
· Chosen as the CAA Rookie of the Year in 2000
· Set the ODU record in the 1650 free in 1999

Jane DePalo - Old Dominion - 1995-98 - New Rochelle, N.Y.
· Two-time CAA champion in the 200 butterfly and 200 individual medley (1996,98)
· Captured five individual CAA titles and won five CAA championships in relays
· Member of ODU record-setting teams in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relay

Kara Fichthorn - Old Dominion - 1999-2001 - Landstown, Pa.
· CAA Swimmer of the Year and Outstanding Meet Performer in 2001
· 2001 CAA Champion in the 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 butterfly
· Set ODU records in the 200 and 400 IM and 200 butterfly

Amy Hendrick - East Carolina - 1999-2000 - Shelby, N.C.
· Four-time CAA champion, including two titles in the 100 backstroke
· Held CAA record in the 100 backstroke from 1999-2006
· Participated in the 2000 Olympic Trials

Kate Hynes - Drexel - 2005-09 - Brookville, Pa.
· Four-time CAA Diver of the Year who won the 1-meter and 3-meter titles from 2006-09
· Earned honorable mention All-America honors on 3-meter board in 2008 and 2009
· Holds CAA records on the 1-meter (363.35) and 3-meter (364.15) boards

Jennifer Irby - Towson - 2002-05 - Elkridge, Md.
· CAA Swimmer of the Year in 2005 and two-time Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet
· 13-time CAA Champion, including four titles in the 50 free and three in the 100 butterfly
· 2005 NCAA Championship participant in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 butterfly

Stacia Johnson - Navy - 1989-1992 - Gainesville, Fla.
· CAA Diver of the Year in 1991
· Three-time CAA champion on the 3-meter board and two-time champ on the 1-meter
· Set CAA records on the 1-meter (424.20) and 3-meter boards (495.10)

Liz Lebherz - Towson - 2004-07 - Frederick, Md.
· Eight-time CAA champion, including two titles in the 200 free and 500 free
· Named CAA Rookie Swimmer of the Year in 2004
· Set Towson school records in the 200 free and 400 free relay

Erin McDonnell - James Madison - 1991-94 - Phoenix, Md.
· 14-time CAA champion, including four titles in the 400 freestyle relay
· Was the CAA champ in the 200 freestyle for three consecutive seasons (1992-94)
· Set six JMU records, including the 200, 500, 1000 and 1650 free

Louise Middlemore - George Mason - 2000-02 - Nottingham, England
· Won two CAA championships and set meet records in the 200 breaststroke
· Two-time CAA champion in the 100 breaststroke
· Member of 2001 CAA champion teams in the 200 and 400 medley relay

Ruth Anne Miller - William & Mary - 1999-2003 - Williamsburg, Va.
· Selected as the CAA Performer of the Year in 2003
· Five-time CAA champion, including two titles in the 200 individual medley
· Competed in four events (100 & 200 breast, 200 & 400 IM) at 2003 NCAA Championship

Kate Milling - UNC Wilmington - 1998-2000 - Columbus, Ohio
· CAA Swimmer of the Year and Outstanding Meet Performer in 2000
· 13-time CAA champion, including two titles in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly
· Set UNCW records in six events, including the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly

Katie Radloff - William & Mary - 2006-present - Arlington, Va.
· Three-time NCAA qualifier (2007-2009) and two-time CAA Swimmer of the Year (2007, 2008)
· 17-time CAA Champion, including three straight titles in the 50, 100 and 200 free
· Set six CAA meet records in 2009, including the 50 free , 100 free and 200 free

Jamye Stickney - Old Dominion - 1996-97 - Cordova, Tenn.
· Two-time CAA Champion in the 500 freestyle (1996, 1997)
· Won five CAA Championships in career (3 individual, 2 relay)
· Holds 3rd best time in ODU history for 50 free (23.88 in 1996)

Lauren Stinnett - George Mason - 1999-2003 - Reston, Va.
· 2002 CAA Swimmer of the Year and Outstanding Meet Performer
· Holds CAA meet records in the 200 fly (1:58.80) and 200 backstroke (1:58.80)
· Eight-time CAA champion, including 2002 titles in the 200 back, 200 fly and 400 IM

Adrienne Sutton - UNC Wilmington - 1996-99 - Woodstock, N.J.
· CAA Swimmer of the Year in 1998 and Rookie of the Year in 1997
· 13-time CAA champion, including three titles in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 400 IM
· Set UNCW records in the 100 breas

Lottie Swanson - James Madison - 1989-92 - Port Washington, N.Y.
· Captured three straight CAA titles in the 100 butterfly (1989-91)

Cindy Walker - James Madison - 1991-94 - Newport News, Va.
· 1993 CAA Swimmer of the Year and two-time Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet (1992, 93)
· 16-time CAA champion, including three titles in the 50 free and two in the 100 free
· Held seven CAA records, including 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly

Sue Wager - Richmond - 1986-87 - Norwalk, Conn.
· Selected as the CAA Swimmer of the Year in 1986
· Two-time CAA Champion in the 100 freestyle
· Captured CAA titles in the 50 free, 200 free and 500 free

Debbie Williams - Navy - 1986-1990 - Indiana, Pa.
· Chosen as the CAA Swimmer of the Year in 1987 and 1988
· Won a league-record 19 CAA championships (11 individual, 8 relay)
· Four-time CAA champion in the 200 IM and 400 IM
