Monarch Swimming Wraps Up First Tri-Meet

NORFOLK, VA-The Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted their first tri-meet of the season today. The men finished 2-0 against George Mason and the College of Charleston, while the women went 1-1 against the competition.

On the men's side, swimmers John Wall (Hoover, AL), Steve Corson (Delmar, NY) and Mark Giusto (Va. Beach, VA) were consistent winners. The men defeated Charleston 70-35 and held off George Mason 60-53.

The Lady Monarch swimmers were impressive as well, dominating Charleston 79-34 but falling to the Patriots in the final event, 56-57. Kara Ficthorn (Landsdowne, PA), Jamie D'Agostino (Ardsley, NY), Melody Wolff (Poughkeepsie, NY), Sarah Mooney (Riverside, RI) and Ashley Kirchner (Arlington, VA) all enjoyed victories.

The ODU men are now 2-1 while the women are 1-2. The Monarchs will host their next tri-meet on November 10th, against Duke and Towson.
