COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Old Dominion's Arni Arnason (Msfellsbaer, Iceland) competed in his second NCAA event on Friday at the 2009 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by Texas A&M. Arnason placed 25th in a field of 35 during the preliminaries in the 100 breast, logging a time of 53.89.

Arnason, who yesterday competed in the 50 free, still has one more event to swim. The freshman Monarch, ODU's first Monarch to compete at NCAA's in the Division I era, will swim the 200 breast on Saturday. Arnason holds the ODU record in the event, setting the record time of 1:58.37 as he won the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) title in late February.

On Thursday, Arnason kicked off his appearance at the championships in the 50 free, clocking a time of 19.92 during preliminary action and placing 42nd in the field of 66.
