REYKAVIK, Iceland - Junior Arni Arnason (Mosfellsbaer, Iceland) won the 100 freestyle, 200 individual medley, and 200 breaststroke and junior Erla Haraldsdottir (Njardvik, Iceland) won the 50 breaststroke, 200 IM, and 200 butterfly at the Icelandic National Championships earlier this month.
Arnason won the 100 freestyle in a time of 51.17, took first in the 200 IM clocking in with a time of 2:10.59, and captured the title in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:19.50.
Haraldsdottir broke two of her own Icelandic records. She won the 50 breaststroke with a time of 31.96 and won the 200 IM in a time of 2:18.45, breaking her old records in both events. She also captured the top time in the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:21.88.
Haraldsdottir's times in the 50 breaststroke and the 200 IM qualify her for the Swimming World Championships in Seoul, Korea in August. Her time in the 50 breaststroke is ranked 13th in the world.
