Swimmers Defeat George Mason
FAIRFAX, VA (Oct. 30) -- Old Dominion men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated George Mason, with the men winning 134-86 and the women winning 133-92. The men's team improves to 4-0 on the season, 2-0 in the CAA, while the women improve to 1-3 on the year, 1-1 in the CAA.
The women's team was led by five freshmen as Jamie D'Agostino (Ardsley, NY) picked up three event wins (100, 200, 500 free), Sarah Mooney (Riverside, RI) two wins (50 free, 100 back), Kara Fichthorn (Landsdowne, PA) two wins (200 IM, 100 fly), Ashley Kirchner (Arlington, VA) one win (1 meter dive) and Anne Chapman (Springfield, VA) one win (1000 free).
Meanwhile, the men's team had eight different event winners as Steve Corson (Delmar, NY), Mike Coley (Niskayuna, NY), Mark Guisto (Virginia Beach, VA), Kevin Harrison (Bethpage, NY), John Sax (Memphis, TN), Jimmy Sullivan (West Palm Beach, FL), Greg Hofmann (Lynchburg, VA) and John Wall (Hoover, AL) each won one event.
The teams return to action next weekend as they travel to Greenville, NC, to take on CAA-foe East Carolina on Saturday, November 6, and then to Wilmington, NC, to take on UNC Wilmington on Sunday, November 7.
