Women's Swimming 6th; Men's Swimming 5th After Day One of CAA Championships

FAIRFAX, VA -The Old Dominion women's swimming team is currently in 6th place with 67 points and the men's team is currently 5th with 50 points after the first day of the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, held at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Five events were completed on Wednesday, with the women's team taking 6th place in 3-meter diving (373.95), with Michelle Kenney (Richmond, VA); 6th in the 200 yard medley relay (1:48.46), with the team of Beatrice Szilard (Las Vegas, NV), Jessica Miller (Fairfax, VA), Liane Publow (Las Vegas, NV) and Samantha Combs (Travelers Rest, SC); and 6th in the 800 yard freestyle relay (7:46.38), with the team of Miller, Leslie Blaine (Fairfax, VA), Lisa Rushfeldt (Palm Beach Garden, FL) and Lauren Timby (Rochester, NY).
On the men's side, the men finished 6th in the 200 yard medley relay (1:35.25) with the team of Ian Smith (Hampton, VA), Daniel Lundberg, Martin Lundgren (Vaxjo, Sweden) and Brian Julich (Sanford, NC). The men finished 7th in the 800 yard freestyle relay (7:01.29) with the team of Lundgren, Michael DeNise (Midlothian, VA), Nate Tschohl (Chesapeake, VA) and Patrick Frisk (Virginia Beach, VA). The CAA Championships will continue tomorrow at 10:00 am, with the final round beginning at 6:00 pm.
