Monarch Swimming to Host Final Swim Meet of Season Saturday Against JMU

NORFOLK, VA -The Old Dominion swimming & diving team will host their final swim meet of the season Saturday, January 31, 2004, against James Madison University. The meet, which is also the annual scholarship meet, will take place in the J.C. "Scrap" Chandler Pool in the ODU Fieldhouse. The first round of diving will begin at 10:00 AM and the swimming will start at 12:00 PM. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the pool. Students with a valid ID will get in free.
ODU comes into their final home meet after participating in the Davidson Quads in Davidson, NC. The men finished 1-1-1, defeating Davidson (257-94), but tying William & Mary (176-176) and losing to UNC-Wilmington (269-84). Overall, the men are 3-5-1 for the year. The women, were 1-2 during the Quads, defeating William & Mary (195-154), but losing to Davidson (195-157) and William & Mary (191-155). The women are 4-6 for the season. The women can boast earning two consecutive Colonial Athletic Association Performer of the Week Honors, with Senior Diver Michelle Kenney (Richmond, VA) taking the award last week and Freshman Swimmer Lauren Timby (Rochester, NY) this week.
The James Madison men's swimming team has a 8-4 meet record this year, but are coming off a road loss at the hands of George Mason University, 127-114. The women are 3-6 after defeating both Radford (152-55) and Wagner (140-71) at home January 23.
