SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Old Dominion University rowing team took part in another three races in the San Diego Crew Classic on Sunday and won in the Varsity 8 while finishing third in the Women's Collegiate 4+ "B" race.
Old Dominion won the Varsity 8 Cal Cup Petite race with a time of 7:04.36, while beating Loyola, St. Joseph's, Purdue, San Diego State and Villanova.
ODU finished in third place in the Women's Collegiate 4+ "B" race completing the course with a time of 8:07.40 and beating UCLA, The University of San Diego and San Diego State.
The Old Dominion Varsity 4 finished in sixth place in the Women's Collegiate 4+ Petite race with a time of 8:02.35. The University of Texas (Austin) ended up placing first (7:40.64), Gonzaga (7:40.86) took second, Tulsa (7:47.08) third, Kansas State (7:48.47) fourth and SDSU (7:57.76) finished in fifth.
The Lady Monarchs will return to the water next Saturday, April 12 in Princeton, N.J., where they will compete in the annual Knecht Cup.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Old Dominion University rowing team competed in two races today in the 41st San Diego Crew Classic. The Lady Monarchs competed against some of the top boats in the country at Mission Bay Saturday. ODU ended up finishing their two races in fifth and sixth place, respectively.
In the Women's Collegiate Cal Cup "B" Old Dominion completed the race in 7:09.84, which was good enough for a fifth place finish. ODU completed the Cal Cup ahead of: Purdue, San Diego State University, St. Joseph's, Loyola and Villanova.
The Lady Monarchs finished the Collegiate 4+ "A" race with a time under eight minutes at 7:59.97, which was good enough for a sixth place finish.
