NORFOLK, Va. - Last weekend, the Old Dominion University rowing team completed action in the program's first ever C-USA Championship along the Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Lady Monarchs sent two of their three boats (which counted toward team totals) to the Grand Finals. ODU ended up placing seventh overall.

Monarch Media caught up with two four-year starters from this year's rowing team. Maeghan Pardy (Ontario, CA) has been a captain of the team for the past three seasons. Among many other awards this season, Pardy was named to the 2013 C-USA All-Academic Team last week. Pardy was also named to the 2013 All-Conference USA Rowing Team. The senior from Ontario, CA was one of only 17 members within the entire conference to garner the All-Conference USA Rowing Team accolade.

Allison Giegerich reigns from Egg Harbor, N.J. and has been the coxswain of Old Dominion's Varsity Eight boat throughout all four of her years in Norfolk. Giegerich took some time to reflect on her season and career, as Allison began rowing when she was eight years old.
