Friday's Charlotte Game Moved to 3 p.m. To Begin C-USA Series

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University C-USA series opener against Charlotte scheduled for Friday, has been moved to 3 p.m. due to inclement weather expected in the Hampton Roads area. Service Appreciation Night has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 8 against Wofford.

Game two of the ODU vs. Charlotte series is scheduled for Saturday, Mar. 29 at 3:05 p.m. while game three is scheduled for Sunday, Mar. 30 at 1:05 p.m.

CHARLOTTE PLAYERS TO WATCH:Derek Gallello .303; T.J. Nichting  7 RBI .237 BA.Team Batting: .198   Team ERA: 5.77.

THE MONARCHS: ODU is led in hitting by sophomore infielder PJ Higgins at .318. He has scored 17 times and knocked in 11 RBI and has seven doubles.   Senior firstbaseman Josiah Burney, the C-USA Hitter of the Week is hitting .306 with a team best five homers, 22 RBI and nine doubles(3rd I C-USA). He leads C-USA in slugging at .694 and is tied with Garcia of FIU in homers. Ben Slaton is hitting .296 with three homers and 19 RBI.  Thirdbaseman Jordan Negrini is hitting .306 with 17 runs scored, and is sixth in C-USA in on base PCT at .439.  Freshman Nick Walker has a six game hitting streak, while PJ Higgins has a four-game streak (had a 13-game streak earlier this season), and has reached base 22 consecutive games.  Senior shortstop Tyler Urps is second in C-USA in sac bunts with six, and Conner Myers is third in the league in steals with seven.

ODU senior reliever Brad Gero leads C-USA in appearances with 16 and is second in saves with six with a 2.57 ERA. Conner Overton and Dean Ali have 11 appearances. Ali leads the Monarchs in wins with three (3-2).  Yarbrough leads the Monarchs in strikeouts with 25 in 33 innnings, followed by Overton with 21 in 18 innings of work. Andy Roberts is second in the Conference with four pick-offs.

ODU travels to second ranked Virginia Tuesday(5:00), then returns home to play William and Mary on Wednesday at 6:00 pm.
