By ODU Athletics
NORFOLK, Va. -The Old Dominion University women's golf, women's lacrosse and women’s tennis teams have earned perfect multi-year APR scores (1000), while a total of six teams earned their highest multi-year APR scores in program history, which was reported in the NCAA’s latest release of Division I Academic Progress Rate results today. This year’s APR is based on scores submitted for 2014-15, 2015-2016 2016-17 and 2017-18.
Each year, the NCAA honors selects Division I sports teams by publicly recognizing their latest multi-year NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR). This announcement is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports.
For the 2017-18 academic year, ODU featured seven teams with a perfect single-year APR score of 1,000. Field Hockey, Women’s Golf, Lacrosse, Rowing, Men’s Swimming, Men’s Tennis and women’s tennis achieved the honor. The seven teams with a perfect single-year APR is second only to the eight teams that earned the accolades last year.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
