NORFOLK, Va. – Madison Hogan’s goal in the 100th minute lifted the Old Dominion women’s soccer team (5-8-0, 3-2-0 C-USA) over Southern Miss (7-5-1, 1-4-1 C-USA) by a 1-0 score on Friday night, which marked Senior Night at the ODU Soccer Complex. Seniors Carly Goldsborough, Grace Haverly, Kathryn Hill, Melanie Oakes and Thyla Peterson were honored before Friday’s match.

In the 100th minute, Iris Achterhof created a steal for Madison Hogan, which lead to a one-on-one with Southern Miss’ goalkeeper, ending with Hogan’s team-leading fourth goal of the season while moving the Lady Monarchs to 3-2 in Conference USA play in thrilling fashion.

At the half, Old Dominion held a 7-4 advantage in shots, while both teams fired off one corner. ODU dominated the second half of play, out-shooting the Golden Eagles 8-1, while taking nine corners to USM’s zero. The only shot of the two overtime periods, was Hogan’s game-winner.

For the match, ODU’s Krista Moisio made two saves, while the Lady Monarchs pitched its third shutout in the last five matches.
