NORFOLK, VA (October 20, 2002) -- The third ranked Old Dominion field hockey team has gone undefeated for the seventh straight season in Colonial Athletic Association play, posting a 8-1 victory over Drexel on Foreman Field in their CAA regular season finale. The Lady Monarchs improve to 14-2 overall and 7-0 in the CAA, while Drexel falls to 7-7 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Four different Lady Monarchs scored in the game led by junior Angie Loy (Loysville, PA) with two goals, including the game-winner, and two assists. Sophomore Lotte Bant (Amsterdam, Holland) added a hat trick with three goals in the second half. The nation's leading scorer, senior Tiffany Snow (Escondido, CA), also added two goals and an assist and moved into 10th place on the all-time ODU points leaders list and ninth on the ODU all-time goals leaders list.

Old Dominion raced out to a 5-0 lead in the first half. Snow put Old Dominion up onto the scoreboard just seven minutes into the contest as the Lady Monarchs never looked back. Three minutes later, Loy collected a rebound off a penalty corner shot by Bant to put in the eventual game-winner. Snow, Bant, and senior Katie Moyer (Va. Beach, VA) rounded out the scoring in the first stanza.

The Lady Monarchs offense continued to roll in the second half scoring three unanswered goals. Loy added Old Dominion's first goal of the half less than three minutes after the opening whistle. Bant then netted back-to-back goals to give Old Dominion a 8-0 lead. With four minutes remaining in the game, Drexel's Caliann Bogovic (Elizabethtown, PA) broke the shutout scoring the Dragon's lone goal off a rebound from a penalty corner.

Old Dominion outshot Drexel 44-5 and outcornered the Dragons 23-4. Lady Monarch keeper senior Marybeth Freeman (Holland, PA) made one save in net, while the Dragon's Katie Dougherty (Doylestown, PA) made 28 stops, a single season-high thus far in CAA play.

The Lady Monarchs return to action next weekend at Penn State. Old Dominion will face #2 Michigan in a neutral site contest on Saturday, October 26th and take on #6 Penn State on Sunday, October 27th.
