UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (October 26, 2002) -- In a showdown between the top two field hockey teams in the nation, #1 Old Dominion defeated #2 and NCAA defending national champion Michigan, 4-3, in overtime. The Lady Monarchs, winner of their last 10 straight contests, improve to 15-2 overall, while Michigan falls to 15-2 overall.

The Lady Monarchs developed a 3-0 lead early in the first half. The nation's points leader, junior Angie Loy (Loysville, PA) tallied the Lady Monarchs first goal less than four minutes into the game.
