Seven Monarchs Earn All-C-USA Honors

IRVING, Texas – The Old Dominion men’s soccer team has seven players that earned post-season accolades, which was announced by the C-USA on Tuesday afternoon.

Goalkeeper Mertcan Akar earned two honors, including First Team All C-USA and the Golden Glove award split with Kentucky’s Enrique Facusse. 

Mertcan Akar #23 - GK
Mertcan Akar has tallied 71 saves this season. Akar currently sits in the top 25 in the NCAA for saves per game. The sophomore also has six shutouts this season. The three-time C-USA Defensive Player of the Week has notched a game-high nine saves in one game this season against No. 4 UNC. Akar has started and played in every minute for the Monarchs.

Three Monarchs earned All-Conference Second Team honors, including Brandon Perdue, Niko Klosterhalfen, and Fox Slotemaker

Brandon Perdue #12 – MF
Just a freshman, Perdue has been the Monarchs leading scorer for the majority of the season. He currently sits with six goals and four assists. Perdue has played in all 15 games for the Monarchs and tallied the most shots on the team with 32. With a .500% shot on goal percentage, Perdue leads the Monarchs in that field as well.

Niko Klosterhalfen #7 – MF
Klosterhalfen has notched four goals this season in the midfield, two being game winning goals. The junior has a .571 shot on goal percentage after playing in 15 games.

Fox Slotemaker #6 – D
The senior defender has one goal this season. He has started and played in all 16 matches for the Monarchs. Out of all the defenders, Slotemaker has made the most shots with 10.

At Third Team All-Conference, Max Wilschrey and Sebastien Hauret earn honors. Last year, Hauret earned a spot on the All-Freshman team.

Max Wilschrey #11 – F
On top with Brandon Perdue, Wilschrey has six goals this season as well. Two out of the six goals were game winning. The junior has tallied 32 shots this season and has played in all 16 games for the Monarchs.

Sebastien Hauret #10 – MF
The redshirt sophomore has had increased success offensively this season. Hauret has scored five goals, including three successful penalty kicks. Hauret tallied a game-winning goal.

As for the freshman, Brandon Perdue and Hans Kroschwitz earn All-Freshman team recognition. Perdue earns his second accolade including a Second Team spot.

Hans Kroschwitz #8 – MF
Kroschwitz has made an impact in the midfield with one goal and four assists. The freshman has played in 14 games for the Monarchs and has a .692 shot on goal percentage.

Last year, four Monarchs earned All-Conference team honors. Not only that, ODU added five new Monarchs into post-season laurels.
